What it involves
With a filling, the dentist removes the decay and rebuilds the tooth with composite, a tooth-coloured material.
When infection reaches the pulp, root canal treatment cleans and seals the root canals: the tooth stays in place, often protected afterwards by a crown.

Does it hurt?
Treatment is done under local anaesthetic. After root canal treatment there may be some discomfort for a few days, manageable with the medicines the dentist recommends.
Is it worth coming to Tirana just for a filling?
Usually not: it pays off when there are several treatments to do or other treatments in the same trip. We tell you honestly.
Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?
Often yes, because a root-treated tooth is more fragile. The dentist assesses it and you find it in the plan.
